Southdown & Blends

Historically prized for their wool, meat, and improvements in other breeds, the Southdown sheep produces versatile, resilient, medium-handling wool. One of the oldest down breeds, their wool is lofty and resists felting. A wonderful choice for socks, mitts, hats and even some of the finer fleeces can produce a warm next to skin garment. My favorite for sock knitting and beginning spinners.
